Project RIGHTS

Greater Action is a 100% volunteer-driven charity organization caring for 250 refugee families in Malaysia. In collaboration with Greater Action, we have created Project RIGHTS also known as 'Refugee Initiative: Giving Hope Through Support' which helps to donate money and equipment in hopes that we can help change refugees' lives for the better.

"To be called a refugee is the opposite of an insult: it is a badge of strength, courage, and victory. " -Tennessee Office for Refugees

Most, if not all, refugees cannot afford to eat a full meal and sleep in a comfortable house because they have no access to legal employment. This means that they cannot get good jobs and are stuck with the jobs no one else wants to do. It isn't uncommon for large groups of families to stay together in a small household because they cannot afford to get something bigger.

- Learn something new in our workshops!
-Help many refugees to have a better life!
- Most importantly: You can make a difference!

By joining Project RIGHTS, you will be able to help feed hungry refugees and help them have a better education! In addition, you can learn new skills in our workshops including coding and website designing hosted by our very own members. This also helps you become more aware and more conscious of how refugees live day by day and how challenging it is to be a refugee in a new land.

WHY YOU SHOULD JOIN THIS INITIATIVE?

Introduction:

"To be called a refugee is the opposite of an insult: it is a badge of strength, courage, and victory. " -Tennessee Office for Refugees

Most, if not all, refugees cannot afford to eat a full meal and sleep in a comfortable house because they have no access to legal employment. This means that they cannot get good jobs and are stuck with the jobs no one else wants to do. It isn't uncommon for large groups of families to stay together in a small household because they cannot afford to get something bigger.

Malaysia is NOT part of the 1951 Refugee Convention or its protocol

Thus, refugees in Malaysia do not have fundamental rights such as:

- Access to education

- Access to healthcare

- Safe & lawful employment

- Equal protection of the law

- Freedom of movemnt

Think about what would do without a home to live in? Or access to a hospital if we're sick? That's what living as a refugee would be like every single day.
