FTS Initiative

On April 15th 2023, Youthnited Vision hosted it's first physical volunteering intiative at FreeTree Society, Bangsar Nursery. Altogether, 19 volunteers from our parent group, Edenland Centre and Youthnited Vision itself joined together to partake in activities such as composting, gardening, weeding, and listened to Ms. Lydia host many speeches to improve our knowledge on being sustainable.

In composting, volunteers took turns cutting up cardboard and large leaves in the compost bins to smaller pieces. It will help the materials break down and decompose much faster. They also helped to scoop out some of the compost that was ready from the bottom of the compost bins and filtered it to get rid of rocks. The end result of their hard work was a whole bucket of compost. Although it was sweaty and dirty work, they still had fun helping out.

WHY YOU SHOULD JOIN THIS INITIATIVE?

Malaysia is NOT part of the 1951 Refugee Convention or its protocol

Thus, refugees in Malaysia do not have fundamental rights such as:

- Access to education

- Access to healthcare

- Safe & lawful employment

- Equal protection of the law

- Freedom of movemnt

Think about what would do without a home to live in? Or access to a hospital if we're sick? That's what living as a refugee would be like every single day.

HOW TO JOIN?

we invited students from edenland and volunteers from YV for the event
